Stage 4 Breast Cancer

The following TNM stages represent the stage 4 breast cancer grouping:

T0-4 N0-3 M1

When breast cancer has spread to another part of the body, outside the lymph nodes, it is considered this stage. The tumor can be any size, or not detectable, the lymph nodes may or may not be involved.

The 5 year survival is about 20%.

Follow the link for information on treatments that may be used in fighting stage 4 breast cancer.

It is for this low survival rate that this website is focusing on early detection. The battle at this stage is by far the most challenging. It is possible to survive stage 4. New clinical trials are being conducted almost daily, and new technologies are being researched for the cure. But until the day comes when the cure is found, there is only the battle at this point.

Understand that the mission of this site is to encourage women to do everything they can before breast cancer reaches this stage. There are entire foundations out there searching for the cure. We will continue our mission for earlier detection.

If you or someone you knows is in this stage, take hope in the knowledge that there is no reason why you aren't part of the 20% who live beyond 5 years, and many many many years more than that.

There is ALWAYS hope. Hold onto it.
